Hello everyone. I’ve just joined the discussion, and my concern is about the reported abductions and their potential impact on Uganda’s tourism sector.
To what extent do such incidents affect tourism? Should tourism stakeholders remain silent on these issues, or should they actively engage in conversations around safety and security?
The reality is that perceptions of insecurity, whether isolated or widespread, can influence a country’s image and ultimately affect tourist confidence and visitor numbers. I would love to hear your thoughts. @wekesa_amos@KwikirizaNova
We cannot discuss Uganda’s economy without discussing the land, climate and agriculture that sustain it.
If we want more dollars through exports like coffee, we must also address the drought and changing climate affecting farmers. Encouraging coffee production alone is not enough.
The same applies to tourism. Climate change affects our landscapes, wildlife, water resources and infrastructure…sectors that tourism depends on.
As Uganda looks for ways to strengthen its economy and foreign-exchange earnings, climate resilience must be part of the conversation.
Before we think of economic solutions, let’s also think about how we protect the environment that makes those solutions possible.

🌱 What does climate change have to do with the rising dollar?
Climate change affects agricultural production, leading to fewer exports and fewer dollars entering Uganda, while we still need dollars to pay for imports.

Ladies and gentlemen, help enlighten me.
The US dollar continues to strengthen against the Uganda shilling. What is driving this trend, and how is it affecting businesses, commodity prices, healthcare, household incomes and the economy at large?
If the dollar keeps rising, who stands to gain, who stands to lose, and what should Uganda do differently?
Economists, business people and anyone knowledgeable on this, kindly weigh in.
