🚀 SOLANA ACTIVATES ALPENGLOW. TARGETING 150ms TRANSACTION FINALITY.

On October 21, 2026, @solana officially activated Alpenglow on Mainnet-Beta, marking one of the most significant upgrades to its consensus mechanism since the network launched in 2020.

Alpenglow replaces Solana's previous TowerBFT consensus mechanism with a more efficient system designed to reduce transaction finality from approximately 12.8 seconds to just 150 milliseconds a nearly 99% improvement.

Transaction finality refers to the point when a blockchain transaction becomes irreversible, making it an essential factor in secure and reliable digital payments.

Faster finality could unlock major improvements across the ecosystem:

• DeFi: Faster settlement for trading, lending, and other financial applications.
