Here's my experience with @itsgearhaus road trips. Nimeenda two so far, na ya fourth niko on.
First, hiyo “expensive charge” ni per car, not per person. Unaweza jaza gari bila extra charges. Better yet, unaweza beba parcels udrop along the way, create content, or just enjoy the drive, all while knowing there's a safety team looking out for everyone.
Now, safety is where they really stand out.
Nimeenda road trips kadhaa, and I've seen everything. Drivers wanakunywa mpaka unaweza smell what a brewery feels like, watu wanafinya magari bila regard for other road users, risky overtakes, na ile famous line “pole gari yako imespoil , sisi tunaendelea, utatupata mbele.” 😂
Others are basically Hollywood live action scenes from Mad Max and Twisted Metal.
With Gearhaus, it's different. There's a lead car, na hata kama wewe ni president huwezi ipita. There are safety cars, medics, and even a flatbed travelling with the convoy in case something goes wrong.
Coming from someone in his twenties, driving alongside people mostly in their thirties and beyond is refreshing. Most are mature, kuna sanity and people aren't afraid to call out anyone endangering others.
Personally, mambo ya pombe na driving, reckless overtaking na unnecessary speeding ndio sipendi. You can enjoy driving without turning public roads into an F1 qualifying session.
You're not just driving in a convoy; you're driving as a community. There's always someone looking out for you.
And these trips aren't just for expensive cars. I've seen pickups, and on the last trip, we were actually two Nissan Notes, yangu ni Nismo usiite note 😞.
Logistics pia zimepangwa. Fuel stops are organised, accommodation details shared beforehand, and you're informed about road conditions, including potholes because apparently KeNHA is always testing us and our cars.
Na kama wewe ni kamati ya promotional items, unapewa complimentary T-shirt. Perfect for outdoors, that babe or boy that visits you over the weekend and doubles as a pyjama T-shirt. 😂 Na kama uko single, Kalatinder is there for you.(Never tried it incase my wife is reading this)
And that's just part of the experience.
Now, someone will say, “Aaah, nani hawezi jipangia trip?” or “Si sisi tumeenda huko mara ngapi?”
And that's perfectly fine.
You can take that money, fuel your car, drive solo, organise your own convoy, or even stay home.
But just because you can organise something yourself doesn't mean paying for an organised experience is pointless.
Some people value convenience, safety, structure, and community. Others prefer doing things independently. Neither is wrong.
It's okay to accept that people have different interests and priorities. Hakuna mtu amekuwekea bunduki kwa kichwa ati lazima uende. 😂
For me, it's the driving, the people, the organisation, and the peace of mind. And so far, Gearhaus has delivered.
One fulltank plus a little top up later. Just driving for the last two days?
I actually don’t hate driving, its the mundanity of going through traffic and same roads daily that makes me sick
