Mr. Ford says he didn’t know until today that long-term care homes don’t all have air conditioning, and some are sweltering.
If Ford brings in a bill tomorrow to require AC in all long-term care homes we will pass it in five minutes flat.
What do you say, Mr. Ford?
If we are eliminating suspensions for primary students in Ontario, we need more child and youth worker and educational assistant supports to prevent escalation, & restorative justice and trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, self-reg training for all staff who work with kids.
This is a painting at Queen’s Park (just down from my office). I call it: “Every teacher in Ontario whenever the Education Minister makes a statement!”

“the need to limit rotating teachers would require adaptation to the delivery of subjects such as French or Anglais, art, music, and physical education”. Where are elementary students going during teacher planning times?
@Fix_Our_Schools Remember the portables! Almost 1/3 of our students spend all or part of their day in a portable. Any running water is several doors and one keypad away. We don’t wash our hands in portable-land basically ever.
@MPmthompson@FAPareja@ETFOPeel Absolutely agree. I teach grade 6, I could empty desks into a bag but there is no way that I can identify the snow pants, old lunches in lunch bags, soccer balls, boots and running shoes on hooks at the back of my portable.
@MmeHartman@ETFOeducators@ETFOPeel You’re doing more than enough already. We, as a profession, had to turn the Titanic on a dime and somehow we did it.
Well, @etfopresident@Sflecce@ETFOPeel if synchronous learning is now mandatory, who is paying for a hands free camera setup, increased bandwidth, and the demonstrative learning materials that I’ll need to conduct lessons in real time?
@Sflecce A colleague shared with me that in her In a grade 3 live lesson last week, a father brought a poster of a machine gun into the background of the shot to show the class. That’s why.
I cried when my child’s K educator sent the most heartfelt audio message to my son. That works!
@CBCAlerts The WHO says that desks will need to be placed 6 ft apart. I don’t know if you’ve seen the inside of my portable...but according to my math, I can accommodate 6 students.
Dear Kids
You are all the heroes of this fight.
You've lost everything. Your school, your friends, your teachers, your social lives.
Some of you are living in situations beyond what adults can handle.
You all get a "A" for surviving a global pandemic.
