અમદાવાદ-મુંબઈ બુલેટ ટ્રેન પ્રોજેક્ટમાં થયેલા વિલંબ માટે જાપાનના પૂર્વ ન્યાયમંત્રી હિદેકી માકિહારાએ ઠીકરું સંપૂર્ણપણે ભારત પર ફોડ્યું છે. તેમણે સોશિયલ મીડિયા પર કરેલી પોસ્ટમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે ભારતીય અધિકારીઓને ભારતના હિતો કરતાં પોતાના હિતોની ચિંતા વધારે હોય છે અને તેમના આ જ વલણના કારણે બુલેટ ટ્રેન પ્રોજેક્ટમાં ભારે વિલંબ થયો છે. જો કે ભારતે આ આક્ષેપ ફગાવી દીધો છે.

માકીહારાએ તેમની પોસ્ટમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે ભારત અને જાપાન વચ્ચે 2017માં કરાર થયો હતો અને નિયત સમય મુજબ મોડામાં મોડા 2023માં બુલેટ ટ્રેન શરૂ થઈ જવી જોઈતી હતી, જાપાનના અધિકારીઓથી લઈને એન્જિનિયરોએ આ માટે સંપૂર્ણપણે દિલ દઈને મહેનત કરી હતી, પરંતુ આ પ્રોજેક્ટમાં થયેલા વિલંબની સંપૂર્ણ જવાબદારી ભારતીય પક્ષના શિરે છે. તેમના વલણના કારણે ડેડલાઇન ચૂકી ગયાના ત્રણ વર્ષ પછી પણ બુલેટ ટ્રેન શરૂ થઈ શકી નથી.
