In US, the annual birds mortality by 2017 is estimated to be 5 billion birds. If this continues without government reforms and collective societal support, we might lose the rest of existing birds in merely decades. Be part of the solution and join the programs above. #39canimals

The US Fish and Wildlife Service lists 13 threats for birds. 7 of them are collisions with glasses and infrastructure. The top solution in their list is to participate in the bird monitoring programs. Examples are linked in their page below.

A possible way to reduce the number of collisions is to dim the lights of buildings. They distract birds and increase the likelihood of colliding with glasses. This requires a greater number of people collaborating. #39canimals

A simple solution is to use tapes or streamers to help birds perceive the existence of glass in their routes. #39canimals

Window collisions comes as the third cause of birds’ deaths after habitat fragmentation and cats. North Carolina Birding Trail organization worked on spreading awareness of how to mitigate this issue by individuals. #39canimals

They mimic their sounds to avoid unnecessary confrontations to make other birds drop their food or avoid other existing ones in the area. Quite smart and practical. Truly impressive! #39canimals

This mimicking behavior shows how adaptable blue jays are. They may seem aggressive to many, but this is probably due to their constant encounters with other predators like hawks and eagles. #39canimals

The multifaceted nature of the problem requires fighting it from many directions to ensure success. Otherwise, missing with the livelihood of birds migration put them in danger and restrict their movements, which affects the ecological stability as a whole. #39canimals

Have you been bitten by a mosquito recently? Are you annoyed? I certainly do. My arm looks like cylindrical calzone filled with mini pepperonis, when you look at it from the inside out! I was so close to invest in a mosquito trap but it seems they're satiated for now. #39canimals

The problem is, this only seem to be getting worse as the temperature is on the rise a year after a year because of global warming. This is part of the reason why pesticides kill blue jays even without infiltrating blue jays’ foods’ bodies. #39canimals
