CUNY law professor Ramzi Kassem has been officially appointed as Chief Counsel in the NYC Mayoral administration of Zohran Mamdani. Kassem recently represented Mahmoud Khalil in his legal fight against unlawful detention by ICE.

He is a mayoral appointment, so does not need City Council confirmation, which makes the announcement today effectively final.
