Maldive Meteorological Service is collaborating with Island Aviation Service Limited to provide Aviation Weather Service from Maafaru International Airport. Newly established Maafaru Met Office weather instrument set up work started today to facilitate weather observation reporting for safe, efficient, and reliable aviation weather service for Civil Aviation requirement. This initial set up will be further be upgraded under ongoing Systematic Observation Financing Facility (SOFF) project to be compliant with WMO – Global Basic Observation requirement.

The meeting provided an update on project implementation, including progress on the #VilunVeshi Small Grant Scheme, which is expected to be finalized and launched during the current quarter.
As the project's key oversight body, the Steering Committee continues to provide strategic guidance and support to advance project activities and achieve its intended outcomes.

The Validation Workshop for the “Comprehensive Study of Alternatives for Single-Use Plastics in the Maldives” was held today at Champa Central Hotel.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to review and validate the findings of the study, which assesses alternatives to selected single-use plastic items in the Maldives. The study is conducted under the project “Strengthening National Policy to Reduce Single-Use Plastics in the Maldives”, implemented by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy with funded and support from UNEP.
