I’ve seen a few posts about players dealing with poor judge calls in LATAM at LAIC and Regionals…
TPCI / event organizers choose some of the BEST staff globally for these events! Period. Recognizable judges from all regions, not just LATAM. It should also be noted that some of the BEST judges come from LATAM. Events are an opportunity to promote newer staff into higher roles for experience - kinda like being promote to assistent supervisor or from assistent supervisor to supervisor etc. You get it.
I’ve played in almost 20 major events in LATAM ranging from Special Events, Regionals, and Internationals. I haven’t had a poor judge call that I can recall, I haven’t been picked on by LATAM staff, and most of my opponents were all awesome people.
Making posts about LATAM being dangerous or having bad staff or poor judge calls often comes off as racist and it usually is. A rough judge call can happen in North America and crime happens globally. Be a smart tourist, be cautious anywhere you go globally, and enjoy your trip. Pokemon is a global game now and it is so amazing to travel to play a game we all love.
So instead of focusing on a singular region, reflect on yourself, find out why you are truly here, and enjoy it for what it is. Some events don’t go your way, don’t take it out on Brazil, LATAM, or anyone else.
The players down here are so passionate, energetic, and kind - there is a reason why I love playing in these events regardless of my record. I can’t wait for my next major because I always leave with new friends and amazing memories.
Remember, Pokemon brings us all together, don’t let one personal experience drive our community apart. Much love to the LATAM community - y’all are truly special and I feel blessed to be able to compete and feel welcomed every time I’m here. ❤️
@Isido_re@davflamerock I couldn't agree more. I really think that is a "broken" combo at the start but when everyone knows about it will be just ok/strong. Could make a lot of players made X/0 in weeklys with a local meta that doesn't knows about it
