@MaureenLangloss It's so tragic. I have been reading about the skaters and their families who were coming home from the training program.
Wishing your young skater success!
@JohnRNeeleman Grave and gothic do seem like odd adjectives. That certainly doesn't seem like her personality, though she is enigmatic. The more Duport reveals, the more I want to know.
@joshesphillips@Samantharhill I read this during the pandemic, which was maybe not the best time. Unsettling is an understatement. I can't say I enjoyed it, but I couldn't stop and I do admire it.
@goodreads Yes, but then I often don't want to see the film... I have found I enjoy the film if I see it sometime later, even years later. I enjoy/appreciate each more taken on its own.
"Pheasant distance" (aiming a centimeter to the left of the birds): "a defiance strategy...Mieczyslaw appeared to take part in the game imposed on him but found a way of escaping it." I keep thinking about this phrase as code for subversion. #Tokarczuk24#TheEmpusium
@barbarakingsolv Love your books. I especially enjoyed Angus in Demon Copperhead (most recently). I'm a playwright and fiction writer (and sometime poet) with some plays produced, stories published, and a chapbook of poetry. https://t.co/INW337vbI1
"There was something wrong with these mothers; it was as if they did a terribly dangerous job, risking their lives in their boudoirs and bedrooms, tangled in lace, leading a lethal existence among the bedclothes and copper pans...the towels, powders, and...menus..." #TheEmpusium
