The 2026 class picture's 22 of the 25 incoming Black neurosurgery residents — a continued reflection of progress and sustained pipeline growth. This year also marks a historic milestone: 11 Black women are matching into neurosurgery — the highest number ever recorded in a single match class. ✨

These figures reflect our ongoing commitment to documenting progress, strengthening the pipeline, and advancing representation across the field.
The largest overall cohort on record remains 27 (2022) — the first match cycle following ASBN’s incorporation. This year’s class of 25 continues to reflect the sustained momentum of intentional investment and community.
