Mexico's ruling party just rammed through a bill in Congress that could nullify any election (legislative, gubernatorial o presidential) if the government —or the electoral authority, which was independent until the governing MORENA regime coopted it and controls now— decides there was "foreign interference." Sounds reasonable? There’s not even a need to read the fine print. While this is one of the most egregious, alarming and retrograde pieces of legislation in Mexico's young democratic history, it’s also a tell-tale sign that electoral alarm bells are starting to ring within the governing party as the scandals of corruption of some of its leaders and politicians tainted with ties to drug traffickers and organized crime start to take a domestic and public opinion toll on governmental and party approval.

What counts as "foreign interference" under this law? Virtually anything. A statement by a US official or a policy decision by a foreign government. An editorial by a British newspaper, an investigative story by a US broadcaster or a report by a French weekly magazine. Coverage by international media of corruption, violence or human rights abuses in Mexico. A social media post by a foreign NGO or by a member of the US Congress, the European Parliament or a foreign leader. Even a trip by a Mexican governor or political party leader abroad, or a press conference by a Mexican politician or Mexican NGO with foreign correspondents accredited in Mexico. All of it —every single one— can now be used as grounds to claim there’s a foreign conspiracy to impact the electoral fortunes of MORENA and its movement and to void an election result. This bill becomes a blank check, and MORENA holds the pen.

And therein lies the rub: the body that decides whether "interference" occurred is no longer independent. MORENA's reforms and policies since 2018 have gutted Mexico's electoral institutions and robbed them of their autonomy. The electoral referees are now handpicked —directly or indirectly— by MORENA, in what is basically the return of a single-party hegemonic ruling system like in Mexico’s days of yore. More crucially, this law doesn't prevent foreign interference. It hands the government a veto over election outcomes it doesn't like, particularly as the country heads into next year’s midterm elections and a critical presidential election in 2030.

Think about what this means in practice: if the opposition wins an election in a state where the US Department of Justice —as it has done recently in Sinaloa— indicts a public official, or the US State Department yanks the visa of a Mexican official or a MORENA politician (as it has already done) or legislator, a UN body publishes a report on disappearances in the country, or a foreign paper runs a critical investigation on MORENA, the government can move to annul the result. Due process? Optional. And while there is no evidence whatsoever of “foreign interference” in any of Mexico’s modern-era elections, there’s one exception to that rule exception, one that also entails a huge paradox: Hugo Chavez’s financial (in bulk cash) support for Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s first presidential campaign in 2006.

This is the playbook you've seen before —in Hungary, in Venezuela, in Nicaragua. Dress up democratic backsliding in the language of sovereignty and anti-imperialism. Make legitimate external scrutiny or opinion illegal. Then use that law selectively, à la carte, when you need it. And finally top that off with a chauvinistic claims of sovereignty and of “foreign conspiracies of the right”, as the current and previous MORENA governments are so prone at asserting every time there’s an unfavorable or critical publication in international media outlets or a foreign government or politician stakes a critical or unfavorable stance regarding Mexican politics or foreign policy.

The US is the most obvious target here. Any comment from Washington, from any governmental actor or non-state actor —on rule of law, press freedom, migration, fentanyl, human rights, a level playing field for US businesses— can now be retroactively framed as electoral interference. This isn't about protecting Mexican democracy. It's a legal weapon pointed at the bilateral relationship itself.

But here's the gravest irony of all: the bill is willfully blind to the real interference plaguing recent Mexican elections. Not a foreign government. Not a US newspaper. It’s organized crime. Plain and simple. In the 2021 midterm elections, criminal organizations, particularly in Sinaloa and Tamaulipas, didn't just meddle — they handpicked candidates, intimidated or whipped voters, and in some cases effectively ran the ballot. That’s what has ultimately led to the US indictments against ten current and former public officials in Sinaloa, including the sitting governor, a federal senator and the mayor of the state’s capital city, Culiacán. At the end of the day, this what genuine electoral coercion and interference looks like. MORENA's bill has nothing to say about any of it. Because that threat doesn't serve the narrative. And in some cases, it may be rather too close to home.

Mexico deserves better. So does the democratic community that has stood by it. This bill must be challenged —in the courts, in the streets, and in the court of international opinion. Silence is not an option. Contrary to the famous mantra about Las Vegas, what happens in Mexico should not stay in Mexico.

Es claro que la narrativa se agotó y la realidad los aplastó . No hay una mejor economía para las familias , pero tampoco hay más salud, seguridad , y el gobierno y pemex están quebrados , la deuda es muy grande y se sigue acumulando, la economía NO crece, y el empleo formal cada día es menor y los programas sociales ya no le alcanzan a la gente y pronto el gobierno NO tendrá dinero para pagarlos , NO hay inversión porque NO hay confianza y MENOS hay certidumbre , además de que el crimen organizado está fuera de control “el maquillaje de los datos NO ha servido” . Así que por órdenes URGENTES de AMLO la Presidenta ha solicitado a los asesores venezolanos y cubanos un cambio en la narrativa y sabiendo lo que vendrá en los próximos meses con las solicitudes de extradición de los EUA de al menos 3 narco gobernadores y 1 legislador, un secretario y del hijo del ex presidente , la “nueva narrativa” está basada en “el complot internacional” de la “derecha” y encabezado por los EUA para según Morena “intervenir en México” . De hecho ya se discute y aprobará una ley que a decir de Morena podría “anular las elecciones” por intervención extranjera ; es decir que un Artículo Periodístico en un periódico extranjero sobre un “narco político de Morena” podría asumirse como “intervención” y anular la elección . Y para lo anterior ya SE PREPARA por los “asesores comunistas” toda una narrativa, en la que cada solicitud que hagan los EUA de los “narco morenistas” será calificada como intervencionismo , y los que que “apoyen la extradición de los “narco políticos de morena” serán “traidores” a la Patria. Así como en Colombia Pablo Escobar logró que por mucho tiempo NO se aprobara la Extradición de los Narcos, aquí en México se está aplicando para los narco morenistas. Debemos estar preparados para combatir esa nueva narrativa , abrir los ojos de los que caigan en el engaño , ya vivimos en un Narco Gobierno y este puede consolidarse en el 2027 . The mob is out in force. The more I see of this cruel “activism,” the more convinced I am that I do not want them anywhere near me or my music, however that may affect my career. I won’t be held to ransom—no more blackmail. What I see more than anything is a spoiled and entitled childishness. I am not interested in being their “mother” or “queen”; these babies need to grow up and allow artists like myself the dignity of opinion and the space and freedom to create. Or let them have AI pop star avatars that never question them. Let the music industry do its worst; let it continue to infantilize and exploit them. Let them have a hologram, perfectly designed for an insular, echo-chamber culture. Perhaps I’ve lived through the last moments of the best period in popular music and, in fact, it’s over—or at least it is at the beginning of the end. If that is so, I have nothing to lose.

Just for the record, I have zero hate toward trans people; I do not deny anyone’s existence. The post that has caused such frantic panic among the trans activist mob is a graph that shows a steep decline in trans and non-binary identity in young people over the past few years in the USA. My declaration “it was never real” refers to the contagion that was undoubtedly aided by the submission of the media, captured medical institutions, and social media derangement. Recently, this wilfully blind and irresponsible behavior has been curtailed to some degree, as more and more people affected by it stand up and demand a long-needed audit of trans ideology, which continues to stamp its boot across anyone who decries its negative consequences. Children, families, women, and gay people have all been adversely affected by the insane belief that one can change sex—the core hallucination of this destructive and insidious movement—while bad faith actors have lined their pockets.

The arts as a whole are a shadow of their former free and inclusive selves. I’ve had the most free and fun time possible making the music I believe in over the past 30 years. If being a compassionate artist is to be my downfall now, then so be it. I know in my heart that one day, I will be remembered as a brave person, both morally and artistically uncompromising. In the long run, that will be my legacy.

I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.

I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days.

Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them.

However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.

When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said.

The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.

Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison?

I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.

The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest.

Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.

The words are Hitler’s, but I must have seen trans activists say the same thing, barely rephrased, a thousand times. Your movement seeks to remove rights from others. It is anti-truth and critical thinking, pro-violence, pro-dehumanisation of those who disagree with you, and you are so lacking in self-awareness you cannot see that you are precisely what you pretend to hate.

La señora de Zacatecas Norma Rocío Nahle García @rocionahle tomó protesta como Secretaria de Energía de México el día 1 de Diciembre del año 2018 con un salario mensual de $130,000.00 pesos.

El día 31 de Enero del año 2019 adquirió un terreno con una casa construida en el exclusivo fraccionamiento “El Country” en Villahermosa, Tabasco con un valor superior a los $28,000,000.00 (Veintiocho millones de pesos) pagados de contado, misma que fue registrada en la Notaría Pública número 27 propiedad del Lic. Adán Augusto López Hernández con el número 51675, volumen 715 con fecha 31 Enero 2019 bajo el nombre de Norma Rocío Nahle García.

La señora de Zacatecas declaró un valor de la propiedad por $2,000,000.00 valor falso, omitió declararla en su declaración patrimonial, la compró de contado a dos meses de su toma de protesta como Secretaria de energía de México y responsable de la obra de la Refinería “Dos Bocas”.

Esta propiedad, más todas las señaladas en mis denuncias presentadas con las pruebas necesarias ante la @FGRMexico @FGE_Veracruz y la Auditoría Superior de la Federación quedaron en el olvido, la señora debería acreditar como adquirió todas sus propiedades, el pago de renta del departamento en NY, colegiaturas en las mejores universidades del mundo, gastos superfluos, adquisición de terrenos y casa en el fraccionamiento “El Dorado” en Boca del Rio, Ver. pero nada pasa
