Today, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs praised the brave heroes who summoned courage to fight for Ugandaโs freedom and lasting peace. He paid special tribute to Gen. Salim Saleh, whose bold command at the historic Battle of Kembogo became a decisive turning point that helped liberate the nation.
โWhoever fights with a just cause shall always prevail,โ Hon Mao declared. โThe NRA had a noble cause and it was that cause that ignited their unyielding spirit, resilience and determination to fight against all odds and ultimately win the warโ
I like Hon @ObothOboth because he is an honest person, he was never prepared to become speaker, after Hon @norbertmao had shaken the tree. He was later dragged to the chair and now he will start to enjoy the fruits.
Colonel Johnson Katongole is a living hero of Uganda. Through unimaginable pain and sacrifice including the loss of his finger in battle, he stood firm in the liberation struggle that freed our nation.
His story reminds us of the heavy price paid by the men and women of the NRA to bring peace and hope to Uganda.
Yet one question lingers in the hearts of many: How many of us today are ready to make such sacrifices for our country? How many true patriots remain who would willingly endure hardship and even death for Ugandaโs future?
Colonel Katongoleโs courage challenges every one of us not just to remember the past, but to ask ourselves what we are willing to give for the Uganda we want to build. @norbertmao@kizzabesigye1@HEBobiwine@Mbidde
One of the only 30 surviving fighters from the historic Battle of Kembogo (21 June 1985), Col (Rtd) Johnson Katongole embodies the unbreakable spirit of the NRA liberation struggle.
During the fierce fighting, he was shot in the hand and lost his pinkie finger. Bleeding heavily, he rushed to the medical team for treatment, only to be told his injury was minor compared to the more serious casualties they were handling. Without hesitation, he tied a piece of cloth around his wounded hand and charged back to the frontline to continue the fight.
What a hero!

Made a case earlier this morning on the floor of @Parliament_Ug for increasing our investments in irrigation. Our irrigation uptake is still below 2% . While in the past, irrigation infrastructure development wasn't a much considered priority because of the God given predictable weather, now it's very urgent due to the adverse effects of climate change . We must stabilize agriculture, we must feed and hydrate our soils so that they can feed us back sustainably.
We are glad @DaudiKabanda is confirming that he has been the one shielding the corrupt from justice. But before we ask how he was doing it, let him first tell us why things changed this time!

Iโm deeply honored by the trust placed in me by H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni in appointing me as the Cabinet Minister of Works and Transport. Today, I officially assume office, taking over the mantle from my senior colleague, Gen. Katumba Wamala.
As we embark on this 2026โ2031 term, our immediate priorities are clear: fast-tracking the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), expanding Uganda Airlines' fleet, and completing stalled road projects nationwide to lower transport costs and boost our economy.
I thank Gen. Katumba for his dedicated leadership and look forward to working with the entire team at @MoWT_Uganda to build a safer, more connected nation. For God and My Country!

Throughout history, nations have erected towering flagpoles not merely to fly their flags, but to make a bold statement about their identity, unity, resilience, and aspirations. From the world's tallest flagpoles in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Azerbaijan to iconic national monuments across the globe, such structures stand as enduring reminders of a people's journey and their confidence in the future.
Today, we pay tribute to Gen. @mkainerugaba for spearheading the installation of the highest flagpole on the African continent, a monumental symbol of patriotism, sovereignty, and national pride.
A flag is more than a piece of cloth. It embodies the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom, the values that unite a nation, and the hopes of generations yet to come. The higher it flies, the more visible those ideals become.
By establishing Africa's tallest flagpole, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has contributed a landmark that will inspire patriotism, attract visitors, and serve as a lasting symbol of Uganda's progress, stability, and growing stature on the continent.
As we look upon our national flag soaring above the skyline, may we remember the heroes who secured our freedom, appreciate the peace and development we enjoy today, and recommit ourselves to building an even stronger Uganda.
Congratulations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on this historic achievement. May this towering symbol remind all Ugandans that our nation's ambitions are as high as the flag that now proudly flies above us.
