We’re coming up on a very special Monkees anniversary in September.

The Monkees first aired on NBC on September 12, 1966, and 60 years later, I’ll be in Los Angeles on September 12 with Micky Dolenz Celebrates 60 Years of The Monkees.

I guess that means I have no excuse for forgetting the date!

The next year, the show won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, which was a very nice surprise for a group of people who spent a great deal of time running around, falling over furniture, and trying to look like we knew what was happening.

So here’s my question for you: What was your first Monkees memory? The show, the records, a concert, a rerun, a parent’s record collection, or something else entirely?
