The US warning about a possible Russian provocation against Poland is a serious moment.
What I will say is that NATO/JEF's strength has always been the certainty that we stand together. Our job in Parliament and in government is to make sure that certainty is never in doubt.
This is exactly why I've been saying defence is not just a departmental budget line. It's the foundation everything else sits on.
The threat is real… we must not take our freedom for granted. In a crisis we all need to know our part in the plan, with the seriousness the moment demands and the honesty to bring the public into the picture about what we're actually dealing with.
£43,480,562.
That's the amount of money the energy department has sent to turn off wind farms in the last WEEK...
...even though the wind was BLOWING.
Yes, even though the wind was blowing.
Energy bills in the UK are among the highest in the world.
Should we continue?
"Freedom, free speech, a free society. Say no to the Platonic guardians. Trust the people."
I spoke in the Lords today to criticise the current moral panic in our political class over "misinformation". 👇
A council is forcing homeowners to rip out their air con, saying they should ‘open a window’ instead.
Why? Because of their Soviet ‘cooling hierarchy’ policy.
This is mad.
We have to end the de facto air con bans in Britain and Make Britain Cool Again!
The Lower Thames Crossing has cost £1.2 billion, and generated 359,866 pages of paperwork before anything was built.
£1.2 billion. Not a single metre.
It is not close to being opened.
Piers, words matter.
There is a war. There is no genocide.
The IDF warns civilians before strikes, drops leaflets, makes phone calls, sends text messages, and opens evacuation routes.
Can you name a single genocide in history where the attacking side repeatedly warned civilians to leave before military operations?
This weekend alone, we lost five of our boys fighting Hezbollah face-to-face on the ground. If Israel’s goal were to kill Lebanese civilians indiscriminately, why would we risk our own troops instead of simply carpet-bombing entire areas?
You’re smart and you know this.
As for Ben Gvir: you’re citing the wrong person.
I already told you he’s a clown. A noisy and incompetent clown.
I would never have let him into my government, nor should Bibi have.
Soon we’ll be replacing this miserable government.
Ben Gvir insisted on rebranding himself as “National Security Minister” because he liked the dramatic title.
In reality, he oversees the police. He doesn’t command the IDF, doesn’t formulate military strategy, and doesn’t make operational decisions in Lebanon.
Quoting Ben Gvir to explain Israeli military policy is like quoting a loud backbencher to explain Britain’s war strategy.
Israel’s actions are determined by its government and carried out by the IDF in accordance with international law.
This morning, I appeared on Good Morning Britain in a live interview about the grooming gangs. Before I went on air, I was told not to mention the race of the perpetrators. I, of course, didn’t listen.
I have now received an apology from the editor.
My interview is below: 👇🏻
“What’s my approval rating?”
- It’s bad Mr Prime Minister. It’s -43. It’s…it’s in the mud.
“Could it get lower?”
- I mean anything COULD happen but realistically-
“Kill the ponies.”
- Wha-
“The ponies. The cute little ponies. Kill them.”
- Sir, they’re endangered
“Fuck ‘em. Make the call.”
Britain spent a decade choosing to be smaller in the world.
Right now the rules on communications, energy and trade are being rewritten. By China. By Russia. By countries that take their own security seriously. We need to be at that table. That's a choice we must make.
Strong countries get cheap energy. Weak countries pay whatever the strong ones decide.
As Lord Polak, rightly asks, amid all the fuss and anger about some charity money going to help people in disputed territory, what is @HFalconerMP doing about British charity money going to funders of terrorism, the IRGC and Muslim Brotherhood?
A few months ago, I hosted an event with @LordWalney and @KasraAarabi about their report into how the IRGC - which has carried out numerous acts of terror on British soil - is being funded by British charities.
There was no performative statement from our government then.
The issues continue…
As a Japanese watching the UK right now, I have one simple question.
A Sudanese asylum seeker just tried to behead a local man in Belfast. The victim lost an eye.
This comes after years of grooming gangs raping thousands of British girls — gangs that police and councils deliberately ignored because they were afraid of being called racist.
In Japan, even one case like this would have triggered national outrage and immediate policy reversal.
But in Britain, the conversation is still about “not being far-right.”
British people, at what point does protecting your own children become more important than protecting your reputation?
We genuinely do not understand this.
Excellent from @LordIanAustin on yet ANOTHER debate on the evils of Israel:
As he says: ‘Over the last few years, Parliament has discussed Israel more than any other issue, not just any international issue, more than any domestic issue: more than the economy, unemployment, crime, the NHS.
‘The public out there look at Parliament and think this is utterly mad, utterly, utterly mad.’
Lord Ian blames Parliament for helping fuel antisemitism adding:
‘Does Parliament not understand that singling out the world's only Jewish state, holding its standards not applied to anywhere else, falsely accusing Israel of committing these terrible crimes? ‘This is bound to drive hostility towards people who are identified with Israel, which is the vast majority of the Jewish community, and I have to say this is why I believe Parliament is playing a large role in driving the explosion of anti-Semitism that we've seen on the streets of Britain.’
The Henry Nowak case has revealed how left-wing ideology has corrupted our police and criminal justice system.
Labour are making the problem far worse - but we must also explain how this ideology was allowed to take root under a Conservative government.
