On this sad day we honour the sacrifice of CPL Cameron Baird VC MG of Australia's 2nd Commando Regiment, who was killed during an engagement with insurgents in Afghanistan on 22 June 2013. For his actions he was awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia. RIP, Cam #LestWeForget

Today we honour the memory of PTE Benjamin Chuck, PTE Timothy Aplin and PTE Scott Palmer of Australia's 2nd Commando Regiment who died in a Black Hawk helicopter crash during operations in the Shah Wali Kot, Afghanistan, on 21 June 2010. Rest in peace #LestWeForget

Today we also bow our heads in memory of Australian Army medical officer MAJ Susan Felsche, who lost her life in a plane crash in the Western Sahara on 21 June 1993. She was the first Australian woman to die on overseas duty since WW2. Rest in peace, Susan #LestWeForget

ON THIS DAY: Australian POWs of the Korean War were released on 18 June 1953. 30 Australians were taken prisoner and one – 3RAR's PTE Horace Madden – died in captivity. There are still 43 Australian servicemen listed as MIA from the conflict. #LestWeForget

Today we remember the 18 Aussies – 15 SASR soldiers and three crew – who died in a midair collision of two 5th Aviation Regiment Black Hawk helicopters while on exercise on 12/6/96. 14 ADF personnel were officially recognised for their part in the rescue operation. #LestWeForget

In memory of Sappers Jacob Moerland and Darren Smith of Australia's 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, who lost their lives in an IED explosion in Afghanistan on 7 June 2010. Explosives sniffer dog Herbie was also killed. Rest easy, Snowy and Smithy, your duty is done. #LestWeForget

Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Binh Ba (Operation Hammer), one of the major Australian victories of the Vietnam War. The Aussies suffered one killed and 8-11 wounded (the numbers vary), while communist losses included at least 107 killed, six wounded and eight captured

Today we remember Australian soldiers LCPL Andrew Jones and LT Marcus Case, who died in separate incidents in Afghanistan on 30/5/11.
Jones (9th Force Support Battalion) was killed in a green-on-blue attack, while Case (6th Aviation Regiment) died in a helo crash. Rest in peace.

In memory of 5RAR PTE Errol Noack, who was the first Australian national serviceman to be killed in the Vietnam War, on 24 May 1966. 15,381 "nashos" served in Vietnam where 202 died. Our thanks to all and may the fallen rest in peace. #LestWeForget #vietnamveteran #VietnamWar

ON THIS DAY: FSB Coral was attacked by North Vietnamese forces on 13/5/68, marking the start of the Battle of Coral-Balmoral, which was to be Australia's costliest battle of the Vietnam War – and a significant victory. 26 Aussies lost their lives. #RestInPeace #LestWeForget

Today we honour the sacrifice of LCPL Jason Marks of 4RAR (Commando), who was killed in action during a firefight with Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan on 27 April 2008. Four other Aussie soldiers were seriously wounded. Thank you, Jason. Rest in peace. #lestweforget

Today we remember Australian SASR Trooper David O’Callaghan, who died on 16 April 1982 in a diving accident while participating in training in Bass Strait, Victoria. David was a private in 6RAR when he underwent SAS selection in 1980. Stand down, digger. RIP. #lestweforget

ON THIS DAY: The Siege of Tobruk began on 10/4/1941, when German troops cut landward comms with the Libyan port. The Rats of Tobruk were to suffer at least 3,836 casualties, while 780 Allied naval service personnel would be killed or wounded. We salute you all. #lestweforget
