Meeting between Jawaharlal Nehru and great freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad:

​- Chandrashekhar Azad met Jawaharlal Nehru in February 1931. He asked Nehru to persuade Mohandas Gandhi to make the commutation of Bhagat Singh’s death sentence a non-negotiable condition for signing the Gandhi-Irwin Pact.

​- Nehru refused to pressure Gandhi or negotiate on behalf of their fellow freedom fighters citing his "principles".

- This disappointed and angered Chandrashekar Azad and he walked out of the meeting while saying things which an angry man usually says.

- On February 27, 1931, Azad went to Alfred Park to meet Sukhdev Raj. Within a short time, British police surrounded the park based on a tip-off, leading to the shootout where Azad shot himself with his final bullet to avoid capture.

- ​In recent decades, family members of Azad have alleged that Nehru or someone close to him leaked Azad's location to the British.

- The Gandhi-Irwin Pact was signed on March 5, 1931.
