Shaykh Abu Muhammad al-Julani (may Allah protect him) about Taliban:

In 2001, when the Taliban fell and the American occupation began in Afghanistan, we were deeply saddened, with tears streaming from our eyes over the oppression occurring there. Until a respected Shaykh came and recited this verse to us:

"And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors." (Qur'an 28:5)

Hearing this verse brought back a sense of happiness and strengthened our conviction that Allah's promise of help to those who stand firm for His religion is certain—on the condition that we remain sincere and true to Allah.

By Allah, at that time, we wished more strongly than today to be with the Taliban during their defeat rather than with them in their current victory. This is because victory and triumph come only after much hardship, effort, and struggle. There is no doubt that success has its intoxication, making one forget the past struggles. Today, everyone rejoices when witnessing this state of victory.

Therefore, we must always remain steadfast with Allah during the initial stages of victory.

The story of the Taliban is not the only one; similar stories occur repeatedly in every time and place. The only way forward is to maintain sincerity and practice patience.

What is happening in Northern Gaza right now surpasses description and imagination: horrors, fire, blood, and body parts; hunger, thirst, and a lack of medicine; tyranny, oppression, and arrogance from the enemy; and yet, steadfastness, resilience, patience, and determination from the people of the north and the resistance. These are days unlike any we have witnessed since the events began a year ago.
