Since a lot of people have been commenting that Gyanesh too is an IIT Kanpur alumni, resharing what I wrote last year.

Gyanesh is a disgrace to the IITK brand.

The fact that he was given the “Distinguished Alumnus” award last year is even more shameful.

Given the recent events, it’s only befitting that @IITKanpur take back this award from Gyanesh.

Gyanesh Kumar seems to mistake taking on the opposition for proof of being a strong CEC. It isn’t. The test of an independent institution is not how aggressively it confronts the opposition but how firmly it maintains its distance from the government of the day. History will judge Gyanesh Kumar for diminishing the credibility and independence of India’s Election Commission.
