🎂 On this day in 1768, Mary “Polly” Tufton Moffatt was born in the Moffatt-Ladd House, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Catherine Moffatt, the home’s first family.
One of the most charming and personal details of the house is an etching Polly left behind as a young girl.
Meet William Jones Ladd: Union soldier, Civil War veteran, and son of Alexander Hamilton Ladd. A newly discovered painting of William reading on the steps of the Moffatt-Ladd with his uniform hanging next to him gives a rare glimpse into his life.
