@kinocopter@YellowFlashGuy That doesn't mean collections are automatically useless.
It just means they will be worth a bit more, and buying any used copies are going to sell for a bit more.
I still have working PS1/2/3, OG Xbox & 360, so I can play my entire collection still. Or emulate them on PC.
@ShadyPollster@YellowFlashGuy The dude was selling modded/hacked consoles, many pre-loaded with pirated games.
When you publicly announce that you're profiting from theft/piracy - Nintendo is going to protect their property.
@Dededeminion@kasey__moore Physical media, movie-wise is still down over 90% from its peak in 2005.
IIRC, Sony's current split is 70-80% digital sales.
You'd need a tidal-wave of physical media demand in the next few years to keep it going.
@StutteringCraig Video Game Crash 2.0 is ramping up sharply.
Mass layoffs, studio closures pending, physical media finally ending thanks to Sony and Rockstar, rising costs of hardware.
PC is still a relatively safe haven for now.
@qrayg@StutteringCraig At least with PC, you can still control aspects of digital ownership.
Buy from DRM-free storefronts like GoG - or find game cracks that remove DRM entirely if you use Steam.
Dont want to re-download the game again? Just get an external HDD for long term storage.

@dolla_hane@DamienHaleTV@DoesItPlay1 You dont even need to spend a lot of money to build a PC to even run most games if you're reasonable with performance.
You build something like this and you're hitting 60fps at 1440p, or even 4K (with some lower settings and running DLSS/FSR).

@C4lZnif3X@CultClassicCage >new ones not appearing as fast.
Thats because its always been an underground type of deal. The less people know which ports to set sail to, the less of a chance those places will be discovered and shut down.
Decentralized access is where its at.
@dolla_hane@DamienHaleTV@DoesItPlay1 You can come to PC.
All games are digital yes, but you still have enough options of storing your games how you want.
Buying from DRM-free platform like GoG. Backing the games up to cold storage using offline/DRM cracks, burning older games to BD-R as a compilation etc
@khalgriffo@sassuki6@Yormacat@PlayStation Thank for proving my point.
They're not going to knock on the doors of millions of people to ask for their discs back.
So you saying revoking a physical license, is admitting you're an actual retard.
@DamienHaleTV@DoesItPlay1 Simple: dont buy any more PS games and consoles.
PS5 is basically the last generation of console gaming for me.
Unless they revert this decision, then 2028 is when I will no longer support the platform.
@khalgriffo@sassuki6@Yormacat@PlayStation Okay, lets go through that logic.
Sony revokes the license of my physical games.
Are they going to send someone to my house to repossess my discs?
@UFCxPlayStation@SultanPSN@PlayStation While PC is all-digital, the benefit is that you can still control how you access and store your games.
Running out of space? buy an external HDD.
Don't want DRM? cracks exist, or buy from DRM-Free storefronts like GoG.
All Microsoft has to do, is do the opposite. Basically pulling a Reverse Uno from when Sony mocked them for PS4, and they'd win the next console generation regardless of the price.

@PlayStation You end physical media for good, it means I'm not a PlayStation customer - for good.
The last good game I enjoyed on my PS5 was Astro Bot.
I will enjoy all the games I enjoyed as a kid, and the ones I never got to play from PS1 to PS3 from now on.
Go fuck yourselves.
