A passenger vehicle coming from Sudan through Chadian territory, heading via Wadi Howar, broke down about 40 km inside Libyan territory five days ago amid extremely high temperatures.
The vehicle was carrying around 30 people, including women and 10 children, who nearly died of thirst — until, by God’s grace, a citizen from Kufra happened to be traveling officially toward Chad and came upon them.

This man provided them with the small amount of water he had and began searching for those who had left the vehicle in search of help. He managed to find them alive — just in time.

The driver of the stranded vehicle was Sudanese, and the passengers were displaced people. Unfortunately, such incidents keep happening because travelers cross the desert in a single vehicle without communication tools.

Take extra precautions — and never travel without companions.
The desert is never safe.
