I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.
I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for.
My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.
She is an American citizen. As a sitting member of congress, posting this on social media is not acceptable and not professional. I would be fired from my job if I posted something like this about one of my coworkers. You should be ashamed of yourself.
@McKaylaRoseRed Funny, I work with Medicaid every day and people who qualify don’t receive it for years if ever, so that just straight up isn’t true because undocumented immigrants don’t qualify.
@itboybops@smile__perrys I think people are jumping to conclusions. We do not know what happens in their private life, but I think believing gossip columns (cause that what they are at the end of the day) is not going to give us accurate information.
Katy also told us years ago not to believe something about her if it doesn’t come from her mouth. So i don’t think we should believe gossip magazines as news.
@perrysrhythm She typically keeps her natural hair shorter during tours since she wears wigs. It’s easier to pin less hair in a wig cap and this was right after a concert.
@katyswetdreamm @e__v_xnn Not to say we should not always strive for improvement. I just think this can easily be a case of “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”
@katyswetdreamm @e__v_xnn I disagree. She made it about Katy by saying “writing a feminist anthem with….” That was about Katy. The reality is if we dug into every artist, most have worked with or continue to work with problematic people in the industry. I’m sure we will find similar things with her work.
@8bitTexas Not good enough. I work with adults with IDD every day and they don’t behave like this online. He has every resource available to him. We cannot use autism as an excuse for his horrid behaviour.
