@JayCuda Working through Infinite Powers: How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe before I get in to the class itself. Fun stuff so far, looking forward to the class now too.

It's always gonna look a little funny. It's pulling it's lines from the probability of the pitches in the game being called a ball or a strike. I _think_ that's what this is trying to say anyhow.
Yes, but nothing more than a "your day's done" kind of deal. No auto-suspensions, fines, etc.. Whether the pitcher wants to admit it or not, they're gonna bit a little bit phased and that's just gonna make their control worse. Take the decision out of the manager's/players hands.

Here is an unreal occurance in today's @Marlins@Cubs game. Jesus Sanchez is internationally walked, but he never goes to first base before leaving for Christian Pache. The Cubs appealed the play and Pache was ruled out 13.
Rule 9.07(b)(7) says if a batter refuses to take first on a walk, the putout is 2U. The issue is this isn't refusal ... he just didn't touch.
So, unless MLB figures something different, this will be Pache out 13 on appeal while standing on first base for Sanchez not touching first. For now, Sanchez is credited with a walk, and Julian Merryweather with issuing an intentional walk, but is it a walk if you never touch first?
I can tell you I don't think the Marlins or Cubs had ever see this, and I'm not sure MLB or @EliasSports has either. I sure haven't. You would think touching first on a walk wouldn't be that difficult.
You really can see something you've never seen before in this game.
The Chatham County GOP in Savannah is denying me entry to a meeting it's hosting tonight where local conservative activist Helen Strahl is set to speak. Last month she tried and failed to cancel the voter registrations of 600+ students of HBCU Savannah State University. #gapol
