Deep in one of the most untouched corners of the Congo, a team of researchers set up trail cameras hoping to spot one of the world’s rarest and most elusive species. The cameras had only been running for a week when the footage came in, and what they found was beyond anything they could have imagined.
In the grainy clip, a man appears crawling through the dense jungle beside a massive silverback gorilla. On his back, a baby gorilla clings to him tightly, not out of fear, but with the kind of trust only found within a family. At first, researchers thought it had to be a hoax. But experts analyzing the video now believe this could be the same boy who vanished from a nearby village years ago, presumed lost forever.
