What is happening in Sudan?

The city of El Fasher, which has been besieged by the Rapid Support Forces militia for over 500 days, has fallen. The militia published videos showing them carrying out large-scale extermination operations against civilians, pursuing displaced people fleeing their atrocities, shooting them with bullets, and detaining hundreds until they filled the trenches dug around the city for the siege with their bodies. All of this was documented and shared by the militia themselves.
El Fasher is the capital of North Darfur State and its largest city, as well as the last stronghold of the Sudanese army in the Darfur region, which consists of five states. Its population exceeds 1.5 million people, half of whom are displaced from other Darfur cities affected by the Rapid Support Forces. These displaced people live in the Naivasha and Zamzam camps near the city.
During the long siege of El Fasher, the militia prevented the entry of food, medicine, and all types of supplies, closing all roads leading to the city, even to the World Food Programme and international organizations. The city's residents suffered from famine, forcing them to eat animal fodder. The militia killed any civilians they caught attempting to smuggle food into the city.
Throughout the siege, relentless and systematic shelling of vital facilities such as hospitals, markets, and places of worship did not stop. Last month, 70 worshippers were martyred under the rubble of a mosque bombed by a drone during dawn prayers. Thousands were killed by the shelling, and thousands more starved to death.

All these atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia are what we know, as communications are cut off there, and residents are trying to escape the killing and torture at the hands of the Rapid Support Forces. Every city this militia has entered has seen rivers of innocent blood, destruction of infrastructure, and looting of residents' property.
