Oga Morris. I left Nigeria for university in America at age 18 in 2001. I still remember following my dad to Afribank on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, by the flyover, one Tuesday morning at 9am.
My tuition was $17,000 per year, plus room and board. The official exchange rate was around ₦110 to the dollar, with black market hovering at ₦122. My dad handed a cheque to the bank manager for a draft to remit the funds. We left the bank hoping the money would reach the school before I resumed.
Sadly, it took three full months after the Form M was completed for the payment to finally hit the school’s account. Thank God I had a $4,000 traveler’s cheque for upkeep. I deposited it into my student account, and the school accepted it as a promissory note pending the remittance. There are many families and entrepreneurs who rely on fx availability at stable prices, finding this stability to be a thing of relief.
I often wish we could return to that ₦122/$ era. As an entrepreneur, I can weather any storm, but only when I’m confident in the operating environment.
I hated the insane networth erosion during the Buhari years (my old tweets are still there as evidence). Today, I’m far better positioned because the current reality allows me to predict and plan business outcomes with greater clarity.
Kudos to this administration! If I were faint-hearted, I would have exited the Nigerian economy long ago. But I choose to stay, preserve, and build. Business is on the bright side the last year, if we see good thing we go talk!

CULVERTS AT THE SOKOTO–BADAGRY SUPERHIGHWAY

Over the past several months, we have consistently updated you on the quality of work being carried out on the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project. We have highlighted the stone base, excavation, stone laying, concrete work, reinforcement with steel rods, and many other stages of construction.

However, one important aspect we have not focused on is the quality of the culverts being constructed.

And she has spent up to three years working with him. We have her appointment letter and payslip to prove it, to show that she is a civil servant.

“However, it is regrettable having followed all necessary procedures by the family as required by the Nigerian Police in Ebonyi State in order to retrieve the body to give her a befitting burial, having stayed long in that process. Unfortunately, her body is yet to be released to the family, which, is unfortunate.

“From all indications, people want to use her as a pawn in their political maneuver or manipulation just to score a cheap political goal.

“We are here to also ascertain to the fact that, the minister has requested times without number for the autopsy of late Mary Habila. But the family have resolved and are determined and are still standing their grounds not to allow it because of some personal reasons, cultural reasons and traditional reasons, too.

“It is at this point that we want to make clear to the world that Mary Habila has never been a runs girl or whatever, and she has been in Abuja working with the minister.

“And this is the truth. Having not been given the body of Mary Habila in Ebonyi State, the family instructed me to write the petition against the Commissioner of Police of Ebonyi State to the Inspector General of Police for her body to be released.

“She died since on the 27th June, 2027. And this is over two weeks now or three weeks that her body is yet to be released without any reasonable, without any reason confessed by the Commissioner of Police of Ebonyi State.

“It is as a result of this that we are with the family that you can see in the background, the father, the mother, the uncle, and her colleague who was the last person she spoke with while at the residence of the honorable minister is also here together with me. We came to the office of the Inspector General of Police to submit this petition and, we await the update response from the office of the Commissioner of Police in this regard.

The autopsy is necessary to unravel the cause of her death and to protect Umahi from opposition that has been on the sideline to weaponise the death against the minister. May her soul rest in peace.

When will this kind of politics stop? When will some people stop attacking others simply because they made a different political choice?

Everyone has the constitutional right to support any candidate or political party without being bullied or harassed.

I also found it interesting when Jide Kosoko said he knows some of these online activists who publicly present themselves one way but privately associate with politicians.

Let's learn to respect people's political choices.

Democracy is about persuasion, not intimidation.

You don't have to agree with someone's opinion, but you should be able to respect their right to have one.
