The #Lesotho Internet Exchange Point (LIXP) was established in 2011 by #Lesotho’s #internet community with the support of the #InternetSociety (ISOC) & the #LesothoCommunicationsAuthority (LCA).
Its creation marked a significant milestone in the development of #Lesotho’s #digitalinfrastructure and demonstrated a collective commitment to strengthening the country’s internet ecosystem.
Before the introduction of #LIXP, internet traffic exchanged between local networks in Lesotho often had to travel through international routes before reaching its final destination.
In practical terms, this meant that data sent from one local service provider to another could leave the country and return, even though both users were within the same national borders.
