Tiquin made a stunning and insensitive statement recently, exposing her prejudice and tarnishing her name. She referred to a teacher at the same school, Nonkululeko Gwatyu, as a "monkey" in front of other staff members. The comment upset and humiliated Gwatyu, who reported the event to school administration and the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
