The final section of the Met’s “Sleeping Beauties” exhibit was subtitled Mermaids. On one side of the wall there were four mermaid-cut dresses (tight at the thighs and flare out around the knee) all in gold sequins. The sequins resemble scales as well as the effect of the sun
