@DaWezl @tommykeegs Yup. TOTALLY TRUE. Our Mom was a little upset that the buffalo damage wasn't more dramatic when she finally saw it. She had a good story to tell about her van being gored by a buffalo but it just showed up as a small crease on one side.
@DaWezl They look like the downhill slides otters make for fun. The third picture looks like they're having a ball sledding downhill. I don't think beavers are so rompy. If you have beavers in the neighborhood (they are very obvious!) you probably have otters (somewhat less obvious).
@DaWezl A fisher might slide for fun, too, since they too are weasels. They are active up here where I live, but I've only seen 2 in 20 years. One I watched from the window in the winter, just barely in the treeline, skirting around the backyard. Didn't want to be seen!
For your information and continuing education: after offhandedly calling the plants in the yard "stingless nettles" for the past couple of years, I've finally bothered to pick a leaf and spent an hour or so identifying it. It's called "clearweed" (Pilea pumila).
So now you know.
I havenโt seen Mister Bun for a full YEAR and just assumed he done got et. Maybe so, but today we have Baby Bun in the back yard, so SOMEONEโS still out there!
One of the advantages of waking up early in the summertime is sitting by an open window listening to the birds wake up outside. When you are camping in a tent, daybreak is like a freakin' CIRCUS out there with all the calls. I don't know how people can sleep through it!
