Florence got 6 banana suckers from her club's orchard in 2023 and now has 144 plant stations. “The banana orchard is our retirement package. We get at least MK100 000 monthly from sales. The money supports my family with basic needs such as clothing, school uniforms and food".
FAO, through #AREECA project, provided 4 300 banana suckers to 12 farmer field schools (FFS) in Ntcheu for farmers to establish orchards as sources of clean planting materials and contribute to income generation, food and nutrition security in the project catchment area.
