@HarpoGooneratne Can't tell you how many times I've gushed about this legend to friends visiting #colombo and seen them being utterly floored by his skills as a mixologist and his warmth as well... a top class human being. Love him to bits.
@KusumW Agreed 100%. His greatest strength though, is being able to work so well with his bandmates. But it is also what must have caused such heartbreak. Can't even begin to imagine how he's endured the loss of Cobain and Hawkins.

@chami9539 History proves this. What was that about absolute power? No 2 words about it. The EP is like a cancer that only surgery can sure. Let's hope we can still save the patient.

Tone deaf, whitewashing, puff pieces in Sunday Observer today. Context:this week, 39 yrs ago, state sponsored mobs (J.R.Jayawardena was Prez & @RW_UNP was minister) carried out a pogrom against Tamils. Just a day ago RW unleashed brutal violence against people at #GGG
Maybe it was something
Only adults understood.
Maybe when I'm older
Like my father
I'd understand.
39 years on
I'm looking at my back garden
Reminiscing.
And I still don't understand
5/
I was just three
The night hung heavy over us
I could smell the burning in the air
I could sense the tension
In our dinner time conversation.
But my little mind couldn't
Understand why.
Why were there uncles screaming
And running everywhere?
1/
I remember my father trying
2 explain
How some people
Were angry with other people
And were trying to hurt them
By burning their tyre factory?
I thought it
But didn't ask it
It seemed too stupid a question
To ask @ the time.
It seemed too solemn a moment
For my silly q'tions.
4/
Those angry, menacing, ugly flames
Ravaging the tyre factory
That was owned by our neighbour.
I still remember
That moment,
As if it were yesterday:
The tongues of fire
Rising higher than our coconut trees.
I remember thinking,
Who will save the coconut trees?
3/
Why were my parents speaking
In hushed murmurs?
Why was our house in darkness?
My father knew his little girl
Needed comforting.
It was after dinner.
He took me in his arms
And together
We looked again at the flames
That were raging a few meters away
From our back garden.

Our new Prime Minister’s father, Philip Gunawardena, was the founder of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party. Ranil’s father, Esmond Wickramasinghe, a Trotskyist, was also a member of the LSSP.
Edmond’s son appoints Philip’s son as Prime Minister. The feudal system is alive & well.
The BASL condemns the attack by the forces on protestors. It is a black day for the country. The attacks happen on the first day in office of the new President. Shame!!
