Today MPs have the chance to vote for #NC11 to the Public Order Bill which will introduce 150m buffer zones around abortion clinics. No woman or health professional should have to face harassment and intimidation when accessing or providing abortion care. (1/3)
Today's issues as an F1 in the NHS:
1. being asked to do TTOs for three patients who were new over the weekend, that haven't been medically reviewed, before 9am by the nurse manager
2. matron arriving and declaring that "6 need to be discharged from every hospital ward today"
The new @thebusog ‘s events team have hit the ground running and have their first event next Wednesday. Around 1 in 4 UK pregnancies end in loss. A great opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how baby loss impacts patients & how you can help them navigate it
Next week marks the 20th Baby Loss Awareness week. We are very fortunate to have Munira Oza, Director of The EPT, talking about the range of experiences of pregnancy and baby loss, its impacts, and caring for those affected.
Link to the event will be released shortly! @TheEPT
We are absolutely appalled to learn that the Royal Society of Medicine - @RoySocMed - has refused to allow the word abortion in conference signs today because of “sensitivity.”
Also, what other words are on your ban list? “Controversial” topics tend to be disproportionately associated with marginalised groups. This is beyond concerning from an establishment that is supposed to be demonstrating and upholding a gold standard of behaviour within medicine
@RoySocMed what message does this send to the 200,000+ people who receive abortion care a year? Are they not worthy of non-judgemental and respectful medical care?
Great talk from the amazing @a_c_harvey_b on @TheBUSOG at the @RCObsGyn medical students day. Anna has done an incredible job as president over the past 2 years and I feel incredibly honoured to be taking over the president role. Big boots to fill!
Abortion is a common and essential part of medical care!
We believe in good abortion education for all clinicians!
If you are passionate too, check out @EdForChoice - you could be an abortion curriculum champion!

Excited for this talk on abortion care at the @RCObsGyn medical students day! 230,000 abortions performed last year in the UK (vs around 40,000 appendicectomies)! Highlights the importance of proper abortion education for all medical students and doctors @DrsforChoice_UK
Super pleased to be chairing this morning’s session on careers in O&G for the @RCObsGyn medical student/JD careers day! Amazing speakers from an amazing specialty!
Really honoured to be talking @RCObsGyn careers day. Hope to inspire (at least not put off) some future colleagues to join the best specialty in medicine. Cradle to grave, birth and end of life care. Complex surgery to complex medicine, opportunities to work everywhere!
