Even more grateful to be part of this field. It's been a gift to be part of a team caring for patients. Goodbye to surgery (for now?) and on to emerge and anesthesia.
1st block done, it's been a challenge. During this time I had to say goodbye to my aunt and grandpa, 2 very special people. Emotionally exhausted but thankful for good friends who swapped shifts, brought me food, and helped with my dog. All while they were also trying to survive
Also thankful for the amazing residents who were compassionate and gave me a break when I needed it. Clerkship and surgeons aren't that scary! And thank you to the school and course director who was accommodating when I needed days off.
The first week of clerkship is done. Most embarrassing moment? When I hit the sink button too hard that it momentarily broke and wouldn’t turn off. The sink kept running for at least 30 minutes and multiple nurses tried to fix it. At least I didn’t break the sterile field 🙃.
1st day of clerkship is here! Will I not know know the answer to a question? Probably! Will I make mistakes? Yes! Will I get lost in the hospital? Most certainly! But I’m so excited and honoured to get the opportunity to learn, that I can’t stop smiling even though it’s 5 am.

First day on my ortho observership. Today I was in the peds clinic. Some kiddos were unhappy about getting their casts off. My mom informs me I was also very unhappy when I had to get one off when I was 2. I apologies to my doctors for my high pitch screams. #karma#ortho
