On a call with @NFLPA this afternoon Medical Director Dr Thom Mayer was full of praise for the quick actions of the medical response team, featuring members of the Bills athletic training staff and three of “the most highly-trained” emergency care physicians.
Some names to know:
“The courage that that took…you talk about a real leader, a real hero in saving Damar’s life. I just admire his strength.”
-Sean McDermott on assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington, who performed CPR on Damar Hamlin
The two UC Medical Center doctors said the Bills medical staff and the emergency response team not only saved his life on the field, they saved his brain also.
They wouldn't be here talking about Damar Hamlin with the positivity they are if not for those heroes.
One hero who should be recognized here: Last night, I was told the work of Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington in administering CPR to Damar Hamlin on Monday was absolutely vital.
The speed and skill with which he and others reacted = A huge difference-maker.
