Can we please talk about how some mothers allegedly choose relationships,
chaos and “starting over” over the emotional safety of their own children?
Because whew… this session was HEAVY.
From the very beginning,
Nubia made it very clear that she did NOT want this family therapy session.
Not “a little nervous”,
not “unsure”
girl was hesitant for a reason.
She even told Pauline she didn’t want to go there emotionally,
but ngoba ke reality show and “family healing”,
she went anyway.
Oka reng ngwana batho.
Now here’s where Letoya allegedly lost me completely…
She started by saying she “accepted abuse on behalf of her children.”
Ma’am… how do you accept abuse FOR children who never asked to be in that relationship in the first place?
That statement alone explains why so many children grow up carrying trauma that was never theirs to carry.
And this is the conversation many black families avoid.
Sometimes parents normalize suffering so much that they forget children are absorbing EVERYTHING.
The shouting.
The drinking.
The instability.
The random men coming in and out.
The fear.
The tension.
The noise.
Children don’t just “forget.”
They survive it quietly.
Nubia saying she was labeled the “problem child” because she pointed out red flags? Yoh. That hit hard.
In many homes,
the child who speaks the truth becomes “disrespectful,”
“difficult,”
or “too opinionated,”
when actually they’re reacting to dysfunction nobody else wants to address.
And the alcohol issue?
Also very important.
When your child says,
“there’s no food in the house but there’s alcohol,”
that’s not shade.
That’s a memory.
That’s a wound.
Allegedly,
that statement alone tells us how neglected those children felt emotionally and physically.
What stood out for me was the difference in forgiveness.
Koketso said he forgave his mother,
but both children clearly expressed that healing is not automatic.
And Nubia was so valid for saying she won’t pretend everything is okay until she actually SEES change.
Forgiveness without accountability is emotional manipulation.
Then we get to the relationship issue…
and honestly?
Nubia’s frustration made perfect sense.
Imagine surviving one messy relationship after another that your mother dragged you through,
then less than two years later there’s already a new man,
a crying baby,
a new family dynamic and now YOU must emotionally adjust quickly because your mother is “happy.”
Hayi man.
Kids are not emotional shock absorbers.
And Letoya saying the children only met “4 partners”?
Mama…
FOUR is not the flex you think it is. 😭
That’s actually a lot for children who are still trying to recover from previous instability.
What bothered me most was how quickly she became defensive.
Every time the children expressed pain,
she found one small detail to focus on instead of hearing the bigger issue.
That is something many parents do.
They avoid accountability by zooming into one sentence and ignoring the actual hurt being communicated.
“You said the baby cries.”
“No, let’s discuss WHY your child feels emotionally exhausted in your environment.”
Big difference.
And honestly,
Nubia’s comment about there never being peace in the house? Deep.
She went from hearing abuse and chaos in different relationships straight into hearing another baby crying in another unstable setup.
No stillness.
No emotional safety.
Just constant survival mode.
Children deserve homes where they can REST emotionally.
Not homes where they must constantly adapt to adults making reckless decisions.
One thing about children?
They eventually grow up and start naming the trauma exactly as it happened.
And parents who are used to controlling the narrative struggle when their kids finally speak openly.
That’s why Letoya allegedly became so emotional and reactive,
because her children came with examples, memories and facts she couldn’t easily dismiss.
This episode was a reminder that motherhood is not just about providing food, clothes and school fees.
Zoe Mthiyane Opens Up About Her Relationship With Sports Commentator Robert Marawa And Ex-Husband Lebo M
Former Generations actress Zoe Mthiyane recently shared insights into her personal life, expressing surprise at how some people flaunt their ancestral journeys on social media.
She noted that these spiritual paths are sacred and deserve deep respect.
According to Mthiyane, the hardships faced during the initiation process leave little room for careless bragging online.
Speaking to Lungelo KM on the YouTube podcast Engineer Your Life, she revealed that she neglected her spiritual gift for a long time, which ultimately took her over three years to rectify.
Mthiyane believes that anyone genuinely undergoing a spiritual calling would not discuss it publicly.
While she uses her ancestral gift to help others, she refuses to boast about her abilities on social media.
She emphasized that while she does not judge others, she firmly believes the journey should remain private.
Mthiyane revealed that she and sports commentator Robert Marawa began dating after a seven-year friendship.
Although they never had major arguments, she admitted she often felt unprotected.
She recalled advice from her mother, KaMthalane, who said that if a husband does not protect you from his family, you will never win that battle.
Mthiyane compared this to her upbringing in a polygamous household where her father, who had five wives, actively protected her mother by keeping interfering relatives away.
She recalled a specific meeting where she expected Marawa to defend her: "When I looked at him, he just looked down and said nothing. From that moment on, I realized he would not protect me when it mattered."
Despite their past issues, Mthiyane noted that they currently get along well and successfully co-parent their son.
