The HSE has apologised for failings in the care afforded to a young Cork father, Anthony Hennessy who took his own life in a psychiatric hospital just hours after his admission.

However, evidence was heard that he was not deemed high risk enough for special observations. He was found dead in his room just a few hours later.

“On behalf of St Stephen’s Hospital, Glanmire, Cork, and its staff, I wish to express my sincere apologies to Anthony’s wife, children, parents and extended family for the failing in the care afforded to Anthony at this hospital on November 25, 2019,"

But asylum seekers still have to be vetted and processed. No one would begrudge genuine refugees a chance, it's like 8% of the asylum seekers in total.
