We are mothers, grandmothers, aunts and allies in Kansas City, Missouri who are concerned about climate change and the threat it poses to our children's futures

In Kansas, many local efforts are being made to address the problem of single-use garbage like plastic bags, plastic straws, and Styrofoam packaging.
However, HB 2446 — being heard tomorrow (March 15) — would bar municipalities from adopting or enforcing their own ordinances.
Contact the committee now to use your voice in opposing HB 2446:

Include your name, contact information, and indicate your position (OPPONENT of HB 2446), address the chair (Rep. Will Carpenter) and make your argument.
Remember when SB 47 was voted down in Kansas? Yeah, that was great.
You know what's not great? Legislators trying to bring back basically the same bill, HB 2446. Tomorrow.
Shenanigans.

Senate Bill 47 was voted down — which is great news for Kansans who want to reduce waste and help ensure a healthier, less polluted (and more cost-effective!) future.

The budget includes a complete greenhouse gas inventory for the city and accountability standards regarding decarbonization.
With that, it seems worth knowing if Spire or Evergy ratepayer money is used to pay for luxury sports boxes and other gifts to Kansas City's local officials, re: @jonshorman@kevinmhardy + @KatieJ_Bernard's reporting.
Is this a known quantity, @MissouriPSC?
Evergy and Spire are responsible for two-thirds of greenhouse gases in #KansasCity .
And Evergy and Spire gain access to local leaders — our mayor and city council members — in a way most of us can’t: through luxury boxes at Arrowhead.

Our leaders should also ensure we get the best deal for the City and its residents in the natural gas franchise agreement. We should seek help from outside experts who know how to leverage these agreements to further climate and equity goals.
