Read the shared Tweet/X post from the Chicago Blackhawks, one of the most iconic professional franchises in the world.
You don’t have to specialize in one sport.
You don’t have to skip high school.
You don’t have to play for this club or that club or else.
Kids AND Parents: This goes for ALL sports. Mason was a first-round NHL draft pick this past June.
If this doesn’t get your attention, I don’t know what I or anyone else can do to make you realize this is about YOUR life, YOUR lifelong memories - not another adult’s decision for YOUR future.

Can’t miss opportunity 🚀
This is GOLD for #SportMoms.
One thing we always made sure of: my son sent thank-you notes after every camp.
More than once, coaches told me how much it stood out to them. 💌
Recruiting is about more than stats—it’s about relationships. Build them. They matter. ❤️
Thanks for the reminder, @CAASoftballAdv!
What if you don’t perform well when a college coach is watching?
It happens. You know a coach is there. You’re hyped. You’re ready. And… the game just doesn’t go your way.
Here’s what to do next:
🔹 Stay composed. Coaches aren’t just watching for stats—they’re observing how you handle failure, pressure, and adversity.
🔹 Hustle and attitude still matter. Did you sprint on and off the field? Pick up your teammates? Stay locked in even after an error? That matters to coaches.
🔹 Follow up. Send a thank-you message to the coach who came to watch. Be honest—acknowledge it wasn’t your best game, but emphasize your work ethic and invite them to watch you again.
🔹 Stay ready. One game doesn’t define you. Keep putting in the work, control what you can, and be prepared for the next opportunity.
Your response to a tough outing might actually impress a coach more than a perfect performance.

I’m a professional softball player and I dropped a fly ball this season. It was embarrassing
But we’re all imperfect. Remember that
Players, give yourself grace
Coaches, learn to give correction that doesn’t damage confidence
Parents, give your kids space after tough games
I’ve been covering recruiting for a while now and have never seen Moms suit up for OV pics…. This weekend that happened 😭
