@bikeleptic @DrewGurza We don't glorify drinking. We enjoy wine because we're adults and like it, and we share our thoughts on some. I'm also physically disabled, FYI. And do you know what we don't do? We don't make blanket statements about fictional business ideas using potentially offensive terms.
@DrewGurza @cyborg4sure That's what I mean! You want a fantasy company that uses Crip like it's widely accepted. It isn't. That's the same reason we use LGBTQIA instead of queer when we're talking about the community as a whole.
@cyborg4sure @DrewGurza Which is why we don't use it as a blanket term. Which is the point. Using crip as a blanket term as Andrew expressed for his imaginary business is a problem.
@cyborg4sure @DrewGurza And that's fine. I call myself queer; not all do. But Andrew is describing using crip as a blanket term. In the LGBTQIA+ community, we make it a point, at least where I live, to not use queer as a blanket term because we're aware it has super triggering aspects for some of us.
@DrewGurza Like, you can't be an advocate for the disabled as a whole if you dismiss some of us because we're pointing out internal anti-inclusive or harmful language. You are very privileged in the fact that the word crip does not bring you pain. But it does for others. That matters.
@DrewGurza So, I have a problem with this. It feels dismissive. It's like a gay person telling a trans person, "MY experience with this terminology is different, and so I'm sticking to it even though it's offensive to your identity as a trans person." We all can change to be MORE inclusive.
So @Facebook decided to ban me for 30 DAYS for being on a PARODY PAGE and having my CHARACTER call another CHARACTER a slut. Seriously. Jesus Christ, I am pissed.
@darkest_britta Facebook Memories pops up images of my and my daughter's rapist regularly. It's all I can do to not scream and vomit every time. And then there are the bins of the kids' photos growing up. He's in far too many.
@SenTedCruz @CBSDFW Maybe Texas should get pull itself up by the bootstraps and stop relying on the government to pay for whatever it wants. Most Texans will just waste the money anyway on needless fun stuff. Maybe TX needs to buy less Starbucks and save more money.
@DrewGurza I don't agree. Disability is not necessarily a high risk category. My arthritis doesn't make me high risk. My daughter's autism doesn't make her high risk. Neither of us should be in front of the elderly, those dealing with chemotherapy, people with lung disease, etc.
@DrewGurza Yes. This. I constantly find myself apologizing to my husband and kids, and am too timid to ask for accommodation in my new job, because I feel like it's not worth taking the time to help me, that what I can give isn't as much as I need help with daily.
Best four years if you're not Black, indigenous, Muslim, queer, disabled, poor, lower middle class, a student, scientific, educated, kind, empathetic, etc. Basically the best for White Nationalism, which is fucking pathetic.
@jagerchick1980 Says the Trump supporter. ๐ Also? I was raised in Ohio. I know at least some of your paltry values and education, unless you're a transplant. In which case, your politics tells me enough. I honestly don't give a shit.
