‼️South Africans led by Phakel'Umthakathi are back on the streets in Benoni Gauteng, after Cyril Ramaphosa's speech on immigration last night! We are still singing the same song! Abahambe! Illegal immigrants must GO🔥🔥🔥
President @CyrilRamaphosa’s Immigration Plan: Questions That Need Answers (Part 1)
My concern is that government keeps announcing tougher enforcement measures without addressing the most obvious constraint: capacity.
The proposal to establish dedicated immigration courts is a positive step. It has the potential to speed up the adjudication of immigration-related cases and reduce pressure on the broader court system, ensuring that matters are handled more efficiently within a legal framework.
However, courts alone cannot solve the problem.
South Africa’s Border Management Authority is reportedly staffed at roughly 2600 out of an estimated requirement of about 11200 personnel, highlighting a significant capacity gap.
So the question remains: who is going to identify undocumented foreign nationals, investigate cases and carry out deportations under these conditions?
What has changed since the SONA in February? Many of these measures were already announced then: expanded enforcement, stronger border controls and improved coordination between agencies. Tonight’s address largely repeats or builds on existing commitments without clearly showing progress on implementation.
Labour inspectors have a role to play but they are not immigration officers. Courts can hear cases but they cannot investigate them. Penalties can be increased but enforcement still depends on people on the ground.
The announcement focuses on expanding measures but says very little about closing the staffing gap needed to implement them. Without adequate immigration enforcement capacity, these proposals risk becoming another set of promises on paper.

In two separate arrests in Mabopane and Olievenhoutbosch, three men were arrested, including a Mozambican national, for dealing in and possession of drugs.
Their clients are our brothers and sisters.

I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS!
You cannot fix a city with excuses. During my tenure, we invested in the tools of trade needed to keep Joburg running, JMPD vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks & cherry pickers. A working city requires a government that equips those on the frontlines.
The South African government DOES NOT WANT its citizens to know the true extent of illegal immigration.
The numbers are over 25 million.

This is so weird man!!! I’ve never ever even tweeted to her and I’m blocked 🚫 I literally went to see her profile to see why I’m being called an agent 🤣🤒 Hawu Mme Sophie hle
I’ve watched almost all the people being repatriated back to their countries and the absolutely horrible things they have been saying about South Africa, they claim that ever since they came here their lives have been miserable and that they didn’t have jobs and never felt safe, yet they proceeded to stay here illegally for YEARS!!!! So all along we are living with people who hate our country so much, yet continue to benefit from it? Imagine how much more they hate us as South Africans? So why are we being accused of xenophobia for telling them to go back home?
Take what Mr Ramaphosa said last night with a pinch of salt. We pushed him in 2020 to address illegal immigration and listen to what he said.
6 years later the promises remain empty, excuses endless, and the situation continues to spiral out of control.
Civic movement March and March says it will continue to enforce the Criminal Procedure Act, which allows citizens to arrest individuals for certain offenses without a warrant.

It's like the President hasn't taken the time to go to the ground and find out what's happening. He things the state functions are full optimised. He totally mis-guided or ignorant.
@JacintaNgobese Exactly this is why he is always shocked because he is not a hands on President he relies on advisors to advise him. In this case very incorrectly.
Whoever is advising the President is doing him a very HUGE disservice ‼️
The President needs to go back to the drawing board and understand how most of the things he is suggesting won’t even work! He needs to practically take time and go to home affairs, BMA, the border, refugee centres etc and understand the problem before he can even try and provide solutions. The President needs to take time and UNDERSTAND the problem or he will always fall short.
I’m disappointed that he continues to think this is a political and tribal issue…
