THE SKELETON KEY was released 21 years ago today.
The film’s twist was so carefully protected that the cast wasn’t given the complete ending in the script. Kate Hudson only learned the full truth shortly before filming the final scenes.
Psychological horror. Local myth. Surreal set pieces. Grand Guignol spectacle. And a sequence recalling 'FINAL DESTINATION'.
'TREES ARE WATCHING' looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stuart Gordon wanted to film an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's 'The Shadow over Innsmouth', as early as 1985. In the 90's, Gordon came close to making the movie with Full Moon Features. It fell through, as the budget was considered to be too high for a movie that didn't fit the horror niche and the strangeness of the story. The studio thought it would be weird to put money in a project about people who turn into fish. If it were a vampire or Werewolf story, it would have been approved. He finally adapted the story in 2001 as "Dagon" (2001).
P.S: Remembering the great American filmmaker, Stuart Gordon, on his 79th birthday!
Can finally reveal the concept teaser for my feature-length directorial debut, OCCUPIED, which is a sci-fi thriller in the vein of Take Shelter, I Am Legend, and 10 Cloverfield Lane -- shooting next month!
