“One does not wish, in short, to be told by an American Jew that his suffering is as great as the American Negro's suffering. It isn't, and one knows that it isn't from the very tone in which he assures you that it is.”
-James Baldwin
ben & jerry (ben cohen & jerry greenfield) tried to boycott their ice cream from being sold in israel, so unilever went behind their back and sold a portion of the company to an israeli licensee against their wishes. israel is selling ben & jerry's through corporate domination
I hate to act like "This"
but this the kinda shit why I, and many others, probably can't make it here
people think they're being cute by doing this and its ruining the environment, both literally IRL and the medium in which spriters and artists are being denied to flourish in
I feel this way exactly bc the amount of times Jax had to be better and chose to not be
And instead be a bully push away gaslight and abuse ppl
It doesn’t matter what you went through or how tragic your life was or is that doesn’t give you an excuse to be a shitty person
I feel like this was done to stop the online hate cause the only thing in the entire finale that paints him a anything other than a straight male is someone else's action towards him.
If this was a genuine intention and not cope to appease an online mob, it's actually extremely poorly written. Or maybe they genuinely didn't realize that a theme like "opening up and showing insecurity" is a pretty all-encompassing male experience and doesn't read as "obviously trans" on any level.
I thought she was a huge evil ass racist like a week ago and jax was "the worst character of all time". All it take for you people to shut up is jiggle a couple of queers like keys to a toddler
This show has to be some of the worst written slop online and I'm tired of being nice to people about it, so here are an author's thoughts.
> The show literally throughout the entire series assumes you care a lot more about these characters then it actually gives you a reason to. By episode 2 it's trying to hit you with huge emotional beats that just don't work if you're not terminally in the fanbase.
> The show throughout the ENTIRE series suffers horrible pacing issues. It constantly focuses on irrelevant or unimportant details while refusing to actually answer questions the audience has, and the last episode is the most guilty of this.
> Pomni acts out of characer in the last episode which leads to Jax "abstracting."
> Soma WITHOUT THE CONSEQUENCES.
The ENTIRE POINT OF SOMA IS THE MC IS DOOMED FROM THE START TO DIE. NOT LIVE IN A FAIRYTALE WORLD FOREVER. The gal leading you through the game repeatedly tells you YOU will be getting on the ark to escape, only for at the last minute for it to be "Oh, yeah your consiousness made it - but your current form/consiousness is definitely dead. But we saved the remnants of humanity, so yay!" While simon realizes he is going to die cold and alone at the bottom of the ocean. Also, the original simon is ALREADY DEAD. Here it's "not only are your bodies happy, but you're ALSO going to live happily ever after in a digital circus where all your hopes and dreams can just happen now that caine isn't batshit insane!" This is just a worse way of doing soma. Everyone's happy, noone really loses...except the abstracted individuals?
> Caine's "arc" is insanely rushed
> So they have a bunch of abstractions but they don't even touch on TRYING to fix them over just sending them into a dark place? I feel like a far more interesting finale would have been them trying to figure out how to get Jax and all the others back? Wouldn't this literally be priority #1 now that all the "main threats" are dealt with now that caine is back?
> Why did all these people have access to the headsets and what happened to the company that made them, they - oh we're just ignoring that too okay.
> The implications of this sort of technology are completely ignored in a worldbuilding sense? Cool!
> The entire 9th episode is just "The therapy show" with no actual real threats (jax's abstraction has almost no weight to it, nobody actually seems very araid of the abstraction compared to episode 1, and the process happens entirely offscreen robbing the "movie" of some much needed tension) and even caine is pretty much just solved by him having introspection. Cool, whatever I guess. At least episode 1 had the dignity of giving us a chase scene or SOMETHING.
> Pacing. Pacing. Pacing. Holy Pacing. Pacing. Pacing.
> This should not have released in theaters. Episode 9 is under an hour long. which is why they had to include episode 8. Feels like they saw iron lung and just wanted a piece of that pie. The runtime gives nothing time to breath while the pacing rushes through pivotal moments like a methed-out homeless person chasing the last hot dog left behind after some poor minimum wage employee left the door to their fast food joint unlocked.
> Yeeting the blue orb into the void. I don't even need to elaborate.
> The fanbase deserves to be hit by an asteroid and the guy who sat next to me at the theater literally smelled like human dookie.
> I don't even want to comment entirely on the whole "jax is trans" thing, but I do want to point out the irony of a brainscan which chooses the literal "most appropriate body" for you giving jax the character it did if this is actually the case. Insane subtext and a huge misstep if that's what this is supposed to be LMAOOOOO
Honestly I have no idea why this is so popular.
Everyone on the right got pissed off when I noticed the state of the art circulation and filtration system Obama had added to the Reflecting Pool 16 years ago was removed by Trump. Now we find out that Trump *did* remove it. This isn't hard to deduce. Anything Obama did will be removed and destroyed. We paid good money for that system only to be charged $14 million to have the pool painted and the filtration system removed. This was a money laundering scheme. Nothing more.
