Even if the government "automatically" restarted after 30 days, the problem is the impasse in our elected officials petty bickering, so it will just shut down repeatedly until the side causing it gets their way.

@GodlyNations All elected officials should be paid the lowest end of the average American wage, be banned from participating in the stock market while in office, etc. also have a 2 term limit with each term having a maximum of 8 years then cannot run again and have independent audits regularly
