@andyweirauthor Just finished reading Project Hail Mary, and it became one of my favorite hard sci-fi novels in a long time.
Question: Would you eat a meburger? Personally, I'm down with it. :-)
@pickover If "nearest" includes the one I live in, then no problem: Los Angeles is huge. I think the nearest city to me that's not the City of Los Angles is Santa Monica, and that $130M wouldn't last all that long there. :-)
@DevDurer@TechConnectify Also, I used to lean more towards your absolutist position. But, I’ve come to realize that, it doesn’t get me morally off the hook.
@DevDurer@TechConnectify Maybe one day I’ll be on the other side of whatever line society draws, or Twitter or FaceBook decide to draw. And, maybe I’ll get banned. And you can say, well you should have defended 45, and the others who got banned. I’m really, truly OK with that.
@DevDurer@TechConnectify I’m not worried about being banned, because I don’t paint my opponents as enemies, or promote violence. I say Black Lives Matter, but I don’t say that there are some lives don’t matter. I don’t threaten people, and I don’t knowingly spread lies to enrage people.
@DevDurer@TechConnectify Fact is, it did incite violence. Insinuation shouldn’t be an out. That’s like a mob boss saying: I didn’t say to kill him, I just said “Take care of him.”
Everything has a context, and even in Constitutional law, there’s no absolute freedom of speech.
@DevDurer@TechConnectify Anyway, you can’t pretend that the violence at the Capitol had nothing to do with the tweets these banned people have been making. And that crosses a line.
@DevDurer@TechConnectify Randos on Twitter get their accounts shut down all the time. In fact, there was an account that basically tweeted everything the Prez said and had their account shut down 8 times. So, if anything, the Prez has been given kid-glove treatment.
@BeschlossDC@MichaelEMann Add him to the list of enablers that are suddenly turning around. Can’t shake the Devil’s hand, and say you were only kidding.
