On the sacred Himalayas' today, I took the blessings of Mahakal Baba at Mahakal Mandir in Darjeeling.

One of the defining characteristics of our mountain communities is that the faith are syncretic, intertwined, harmonious, and mutually respectful. Buddhist Lama-Ji's and Hindu Pandit-Ji's pray to Bhagwan Mahakal together, showcasing a remarkable example of shared devotion.

I have prayed for peace, prosperity and continued progress of our state. May Mahakal Baba bless us with the strength, and courage to transform our state and take it to new heights. May we be able to bring positive changes in the lives of every citizen.

I had an incredible research trip to India last week for our book on Operation Sindoor. We traveled to Pahalgam to meet with survivors of the terrorist attack and security personnel involved in the response, then spent a week conducting interviews and engagements with senior military leaders and officials. Highlights included meetings with General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), where it became clear the Army's role in Operation Sindoor is a major part of the story; Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff; Vice Admiral A. N. Pramod, Director General Naval Operations; and many others. The research reinforced just how consequential Operation Sindoor was and the many important lessons to be learned.

The state government has reinstated suspended IAS officer Dhiman Chakma and posted him as deputy secretary in the Revenue and Disaster Management department, pending the outcome of corruption proceedings against him.
Chakma, a 2021-batch IAS officer, was arrested by state Vigilance on June 8, 2025, while serving as sub-collector of Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district. He was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a businessman operating a stone crusher unit.
