@cost_of_bums@StackExchange I'm now part of @CodidactQA, a community-driven FOSS platform backed by a non-profit that serves regular people, not shareholders looking for $. Our communities are small and trying to grow; maybe you'd be interested in https://t.co/76VCtYz9ma . We welcome people, input, PRs...
@washingtonpost I thought a subscription came with no-strings-attached gift links (limited). I just shared an article using the gift link and the recipient said it requires creating an account. What's up with that?
If the Democrats actually believed Trump was a danger to the country, they would help Biden understand that he needs to step aside for the next generation. They put our country in this situation by letting him believe he should try for a second term.
@scotthannen GUIs aid discovery and can be the easiest way to do something. But sometimes you know what you want to do, what args you want to pass, where you want to pipe its output, and you don't want to fill out a form when you can type a command. Both/and, not either/or.
@scotthannen *Good* GUIs are awesome. Bad ones are "where the heck did they hide this option (on a third-level submenu in a counter-intuitive place) & why won't you let me just type what I want to do?!". Poor organization is a death blow to a GUI; get it right or at least allow customization.
@TylerTechNow Welcome back! Moving is a hassle (there's always that *one* "where tf did that cable go?" thing...), but it feels great when everything's back up and running.

BoardGameGeek (or BGG for those in the know) stands out as a community platform because it has:
* close to 100% name recognition within the board game hobby and
* close to 0% name recognition outside of it.

@jlericson@pekka_net I'd like to be able to tell whether the tweet is about an image (that I might not need to click on) or a link that I very much do need to click into to get the point. This recent change makes no sense to me, and now I'm realizing I skipped over some probable links. :-(
@astroHDE I once had an assignment w/an open-ended topic & a max number of *sentences* (not words). It was calibrated well below my usual expressiveness & rigor. I made a deal: I would limit my use of semicolons and not ramble, and they would not quibble about sentence count. Everyone won.
@feederofcats I've had cats with kidney disease who lived long & happy lives. Learning to give subcutaneous fluids was easy, and the cats seemed to understand it was helping because they did not fight me over it. If you're thinking about adopting Shambles but are put off by that, don't be.
I normally try to remain non-political, but my right to speak should not be limited by what might cause "harm" to little Timmy. Just keep your kids off the internet or supervise what they do. I'm not your kid's babysitter.
Hey @netflix , I asked support about an accessibility issue & got brushed off. I trust you don't intend to block vision-impaired users & #ADA issue just hasn't risen to the right level; how can I escalate? Can't read titles, so browsing listings is hard! https://t.co/V3Xg1e49yt
