On behalf of the BPHA Caucus, congratulations to John Kagia on his confirmation as Executive Director of @nys_cannabis. We look forward to working together to advance equity, opportunity, and accountability in New York’s cannabis industry.
Members of the Caucus came together this week with advocates from across the state in support of gun violence prevention. A press conference was held to address the work that is being done to combat this senseless violence & was followed by a roundtable discussion.
June marks the annual celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month. As an extremely proud child of Jamaican and Bajan immigrants, I’m keenly aware of the importance of celebrating the contributions of Caribbean Americans.
We kick-off Gun Violence Awareness Month. We use this time to raise awareness about the gun violence & to remember those we have lost. As co- chair of the NYS Assembly’s Anti-Gun Violence Subcommittee @BPHACaucus I pledge to continuing to raise my voice on this issue. Join us!
Memorial Day is considered the beginning of summer, unfortunately so is the increase of gun violence. My condolences to all who were affected by this morning’s shooting. Next week begins the observation of Gun Violence Awareness Month & I look forward to working with @NYCMayor
Congratulations to United Tenants of Flatbush Gardens. Along w/ @flatbushpower@LSNYCnews@NYCHousing & Mayors Office to Protect Tenants, they secured a victory for due process & tenant’s rights. I’m hopeful that the City will continue to support holding landlords accountable.

Sending condolences to the family of hiphop legend Rob Base. For alot of us, his music was part of the soundtrack of our youth. May all who loved him take comfort that his legacy will continue as It Takes Two will be played at BBQs, weddings for generations to come. #cancersucks

Yesterday's rain storm & flash flooding speaks pressing issues: when will we get serious about addressing the infrastructure needs of NYC? Our bridges, sewers and subway tunnels need overhauling. We can’t wait until another tragedy to address it or we all will be floating away.
