Hey sorry to hear that! If you guys live in Toronto, I would like to invite you to a game when the season starts. Tickets on me, I will deliver a ball to you directly in person. Nobody will steal it this time. How does that sound?
We cannot normalize the use of the Notwithstanding Clause, particularly in collective bargaining.
It's been used to eliminate the rights of CUPE workers, it's coming for all of education.
No worker will have rights if this becomes standard practice. #onted#OnLab
To every educational worker in Ontario.
From the bottom of my heart - thank you.
Thank you for caring for our children, for having the backs of parents, and for marching to protect the constitutional rights of every worker across Canada.
You deserve better.
Canada Day. Always complicated. It was on July 1, 1923 Canada passed the racist Chinese Exclusion Act. It halted immigration & separated families. Canada Day looms even larger w the recent discovery of mass unmarked graves of Indigenous children. Reconciliation. Today. Everyday.
Just like individuals are the sum of their lived experiences, countries must reconcile that same fact.
The past is who we are today, but doesn’t need to be all we are tomorrow.

“We need to keep talking to the elected officials about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, even if we think they are not listening, because ultimately they will all hear us in the voting booth.” -Cindy Blackstock

I love this country
I care about it deeply
Every day, I fight to make it a better place
Right now, we are in mourning as unmarked graves are found
And, as Indigenous communities grieve
They have asked that we mark #CanadaDay in reflection not celebration
I will honour this
“Residential school survivors knew where the children were buried because some of them had dug their graves. They told their truths to the TRC & gave the country a plan in 94 calls to action. The survivors must have felt they were screaming into silence.” https://t.co/rKGRkXluQZ
to many chinese canadians, july 1 is humiliation day — when canada enacted the chinese exclusion act in 1923. we are here because we fought racist policies enacted by colonizers on stolen land while Indigenous people protected us. no model minority shit

Let it be clear: Those of us who have chosen to reflect on Canada's genocide today DO NOT hate Canada. Instead, we've chosen to educate ourselves on Indigenous worldviews and find ways to hold institutions accountable and stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples.
“What must be understood is that Canada took a centuries-long, intentional process of devaluing Indigenous life and erasing history to get to this point, Dr. Suzanne Shoush writes #InTheirOwnVoices

Another 182, today.
This will not be an easy season for Canada to live through. Unmarked graves. Don’t get comfortable with that term. Unmarked means it was never meant to be found. 1500+ graves found during Indigenous History Month.
